چکیده

Background: Repeated intracranial hemorrhages caused by cardiac myxoma is very rare. It is essential for physicians to be aware of such uncommon clinical feature of myxoma. Case presentation: We report a-49-year-old female patient complained of repeated multiple intracranial hemorrhages, with no sign of cardiac dysfunction or cerebral infarction before admission. Cavernous angioma (CA) was misdiagnosded due to the clinical and magnetic resonance (MR) presentation. A sudden ischemic event after admission led to the finding of a left atrial myxoma. Conclusions: Repeated intracranial hemorrhages can be the early and primary clinical presentation of cardiac myxoma, probably caused by its metastasis, without obvious ischemic stroke or cardiac symptoms.

Congenital multiple cavernous angiomas associated with thrombosed arteriovenous malformation of the brain--case report.

A 16-year-old girl presented with multiple cerebral cavernous angiomas with calcifications due to repeated hemorrhages and a thrombosed cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Her 18-year-old elder sister also had multiple cerebral cavernous angiomas associated with calcifications, which suggested presence of repeated previous hemorrhages. Surgical removal via a right occipital craniotomy re...

Cavernous hemangioma of the dura mater mimicking meningioma

BACKGROUND Cavernomas are benign lesions that most commonly occur intra-parenchymally, but occasionally they have been described as arising from the dura mater. Extra-axial cavernous angiomas (or hemangiomas) account for 0.4-2% of all intracranial vascular malformations, and they usually occur in the middle cranial fossa, associated with the cavernous sinus. Other possible localizations (e.g. t...

Cerebral aneurysms in atrial myxoma: a delayed, rare manifestation.

Atrial myxomas are the most common primary tumors of the heart. Neurologic involvement usually occurs as a stroke with ischemic episodes. Following excision of cardiac myxomas, delayed neurologic events owing to aneurysms are rare and have not been reported from India. We report an operated case of left atrial myxoma. The patient initially presented with a stroke and 6 months after the surgery,...

Cavernous Angioma in the Falx Cerebri: A Case Report

Intracranial cavernous angiomas are benign vascular malformations and can be divided into intra-axial and extra-axial lesions. Extra-axial cavernous angiomas are relatively rare and usually arise in relation to the dura mater and mimick meningiomas. We report a case of cavernous angioma that occurred in the falx cerebri of a 22-yr-old female patient with the special focus on neuroradiologic fin...
